Gino's East, Fredericksburg Rd. SATX

Sunday June 97th 2015, lunch

Gino's is a Chicago style pizzeria. Not sure if it has amazing food or not because what we got was okay. The out side of the building was themed well and looked like a fun place to eat. It was super sweet to be greeted as soon as we walked up, bonus points. Inside the restaurant it is not very big. Great for watching a game because tv's are everywhere. The staff was on it and told us almost as soon as we sat down that the deep dish pizzas took 45 to an hour. We knew this going in so we where prepared but we still only ordered drinks because we didn't know which pizza yet. I got an Italian Margarita, it was okay ($10) and a little small for the price. We made our decisions and began the 45 minute wait. While waiting I noticed that all the walls had writing on them, which is throw back to the original resturant in Chicago that has super old graffiti. I am never a fan of resturants with that look because it looks like the place is not clean, but is a conversation piece for your long wait so it serves a purpose. When the meat pizza came it looks small even though we ordered a medium and very saucy. Overall it was okay. I had a funky piece of meat that I couldn't chew, it lacked flavor, and the crust seemed off like a mixer of corn bread and pie crust. I ate 3 pieces (like I said it wasn't bad) and still felt hungry. And if you know anything about Chicago pies/pizzas that's crazy. I did order a second drink a sangria but that also was okay but thankfully less expensive. In the end we had two cocktails, two beers, and one medium pizza, not including tip our total was 70 bucks, not impressed. Even my Fiancee said it was a bummer to spend that much on a meal and it wasn't that good. Now, would I go back....yes for a game. Would I order a deep dish....no, I would try something else and only order domestic beer. I would go back because of the staff and it fun/tv atmosphere, but not the bathrooms. For a new resurant I thought they could of made them nicer. So there you have it. Give them a try and tell me what you think.
