adding and subtracting fractions

1. Fred brought a box of donuts to snakck on during his trip.  If he ate 7/10 of the donuts during the trip what fraction of donuts remain?

2. Dave was putting fruit into 6 baskets.  A few minutes later he filled 3/8 of the basket.  How many of the baskets.  How many of the baskets still needed to be filled?

3.  Timmy bough a candy bar while at the grocery store.  He ate 1/3 of the candy bar during lunch and 1/3 of the candy bar during dinner.  How much of the candy bar did he eat altogether?

4. Marcus had 6 cupcakes.  He gave 1/6 of the cupcakes to his sister.  How many cupcakes did he have left?

5. There are 24 students in Mr. Tyler's art class.  On Monday 5 students began painting a mural, and on Tuesday 2 more worked on the mural.  What fractions of the students in the class worked on the mural on Monday and Tuesday?

6.  Helen and 2 friends had a bag of 12 glue sticks.  They used 4 glue sticks making a poster.  What fraction of glue sticks did the students NOT use?

7. Billy and Harvey took turn rolling a marble down a ramp.  The Billy marble rolled 42/100 meters and the Harvey marble rolled 26/100 meters.  How much farther did the marble roll during Billy's turn than during Harvey's turn?

8.  Susan had 10 stickers.  She put 3/10 of the stickers on her book.  How many stickers did she have left?
